This template is an overview of what is typically included in a Visitor Study Report, which is provided at the end of a Complete Visitor Study.

It summarizes how the visitor study was done, analyses results and suggests future steps based on the findings.


Introduction

  • Describes the purpose of the visitor study
  • Describes the site
  • Lists the mission and/or mandate of the site
  • Presents information about staffing and resources related to the visitor study
  • Lists the goals and objectives for the visitor study
  • Lists the research question(s)

Methodology 

  • Describes the method(s) that were used to collect and analyse data
  • Explains why method(s) were chosen
  • Details project timeline, roles and responsibilities 
  • Describes any changes to methodology from what was planned

Ethics

  • Description of ethical considerations based on method(s) used and site requirements

Results

  • Reports the data captured by the method(s)
  • Presents data clearly through visuals and infographics

Analysis

  • Interprets the results
  • Answers the research question(s) based on analysis of results

Limitations

  • Highlights limitations in data collection, reporting and analysis
  • Defines what was out of scope for the visitor study

Conclusion

  • Summary of analysis
  • Includes suggestions for how to take action based on Visitor Study Report
  • May include areas for future research that were beyond scope for the visitor study

  • Practical documents used to implement visitor study 
  • Relevant excerpts from previous interpretive and strategic plans
